Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened applications for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. International students can apply for the academic year 2026-27. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .
Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Applications are processed through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website: international.iitd.ac.in .
Admission Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement declaring their English proficiency. They also need to provide names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. Referees will assess a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English communication skills.
Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from national tests like Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), or University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET). The Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (DST INSPIRE) program is also considered.
International examination scores are accepted. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their performance in an interview. Students with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee in their chosen discipline.
Candidates must also provide scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
