Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened applications for international students seeking admission to PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs for the 2026-27 academic year. The application deadline is March 30, 2026, at 4:00 PM .
International candidates, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Applications are accepted online via the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in .
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit a self-declaration of English proficiency. They will also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will be contacted to comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking skills, and English communication abilities.
Specific standardized test scores may be required for admission. These include:
- For PhD and PG Programs: Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.
- International Examinations: Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) scores may also be considered.
- English Proficiency Tests: Scores from tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination are mandatory.
Admission Process
IIT Delhi will base admissions on applicant performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from the relevant discipline. The interview will assess the candidate’s suitability for the chosen program.
