IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions Open for International Students

IIT Delhi has opened applications for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. International students can apply. The application window closes on March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m.

Foreign nationals are eligible. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Interested students must apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website at international.iitd.ac.in.

Application Requirements

Applicants must provide a statement or self-declaration of their English language proficiency. They also need to list two referees. These referees will submit recommendation letters. The official notification states referees will assess candidates on aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills.

IIT Delhi requires specific test scores for admission. These may include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), or University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET). The DST INSPIRE program is also recognized.

International examination scores are also accepted. Candidates can submit scores from the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT). English language proficiency tests are also mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.

Admission Process

Admission decisions will be based on interview performance. Students with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline. They will evaluate candidates’ suitability for the program.
