The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is now accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. International students can apply through the official website, international.iitd.ac.in . The application deadline is March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m.
Eligibility and Application Requirements
Foreign nationals are eligible. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must submit a statement declaring their English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters.
Referees will be asked to assess candidates’ aptitude, field-specific proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills. This information is based on the institute’s official notification.
Admission Criteria
Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from national-level Indian entrance examinations. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.
International examination scores are also accepted. These include the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT). Candidates must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.
IIT Delhi will grant admission based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee in their chosen discipline.
