IIT Delhi is now accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 .
Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, can submit their applications online. The application portal is accessible at international.iitd.ac.in.
The admissions are for the academic year 2026-27. Applications will close at 4 p.m. on March 30, 2026.
Admission Requirements
Applicants must provide a statement or self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to list two referees who can submit recommendation letters. These referees will comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills, according to the institute.
Depending on the program, candidates may need to submit scores from national tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.
International examination scores are also considered. Applicants may submit results from the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
English language proficiency test scores are mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will admit students based on their interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for interviews. These interviews will be conducted by a faculty committee from the relevant discipline.
