IIT Delhi has opened applications for international students seeking admission to its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m. Applications are being accepted for the academic year 2026-27.
Admission Details
Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Applicants must submit a statement of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees for recommendation letters.
These referees will assess candidates’ aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills. The application portal is available at international.iitd.ac.in.
Eligibility and Requirements
While specific program requirements vary, candidates may need to submit scores from national entrance exams. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International exam scores like GRE and GMAT are also accepted for certain programs.
English language proficiency test scores are mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination, among others.
Selection Process
Admission will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline.
