IIT Delhi is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate programs from international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 . Prospective students can submit their applications through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.
Admission Details
The application window is open until 4 p.m. on March 30, 2026. Eligibility extends to non-Indian nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards.
Applicants must submit a statement of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will evaluate a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills, according to official notifications.
Required Scores and Interviews
For PhD and PG programs, candidates may need to submit scores from examinations such as the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or the DST INSPIRE program. Scores from international tests like GRE and GMAT are also considered.
International students might also be required to present scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and the Cambridge English Examination. Admission decisions will be based on performance during an interview. A committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline will interview candidates with strong academic records.
