IIT Delhi is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 . Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible.
Admission Process
Applications are processed through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in. The portal closes at 4 PM on March 30, 2026. Candidates must submit a statement of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters.
Referees will evaluate candidates on their aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.
Eligibility and Requirements
Admission to PhD and PG programs may require scores from national entrance exams. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.
International examination scores are also considered. Acceptable tests include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
Candidates must demonstrate English language proficiency. This can be done through scores from tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Criteria
IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their interview performance. Applicants with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
