IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions Open for International Students

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs to international students for the 2026-27 academic year. The application window closes on March 30, 2026, at 4 p.m.

Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply. Applications must be submitted through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website: international.iitd.ac.in .

Admission Requirements

Applicants must provide a statement of English proficiency. They must also list two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.

Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from national entrance exams. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or the Department of Science and Technology (DST) Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (INSPIRE) program.

International applicants can also submit scores from standardized tests such as the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or the Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT). Proficiency in English will be assessed through tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or the Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

Admission will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
