IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions Open for International Students

IIT Delhi has opened applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs to international students. The deadline for applications is March 30, 2026 . Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply.

Applications are being accepted for the academic year 2026-27. Interested students can submit their applications through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in . The portal will close at 4 pm on March 30, 2026.

Admission Requirements

Applicants must provide a statement of English proficiency. They also need to nominate two referees who will submit letters of recommendation. These referees will be asked to comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.

Depending on the program, candidates may need to submit scores from national-level entrance examinations. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or the DST INSPIRE program.

International examination scores are also accepted. These include the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).

Candidates are also required to submit scores from recognized English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination. Other language tests may also be considered.

Selection Process

Final admission will be based on the candidate’s performance in an interview. Students with strong academic records will be invited to an interview panel. This panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
