IIT Delhi has opened applications for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. Foreign national students can apply through the institute’s official website, international.iitd.ac.in . The application deadline is March 30, 2026, at 4 PM .
Admission Eligibility
Eligibility extends to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must submit a statement or self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to provide names of two referees for recommendation letters.
Referees’ Role
Referees will assess candidates. They will comment on aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills. This information is detailed in the official admission notification.
Required Scores
Candidates may need to submit scores from standardized tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), and DST INSPIRE.
International examination scores are also considered. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
English language proficiency test scores are mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
Admission is based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for interviews. These interviews will be conducted by a committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
