IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions Open for International Students

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened applications for PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs to international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .

Foreign nationals can apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal. The portal will close at 4 p.m. on March 30, 2026.

Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility extends to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Candidates must demonstrate English proficiency. This is done through a self-declaration. They must also provide names of two referees.

Referees will submit recommendation letters. These letters will assess a candidate’s aptitude. They will also cover field proficiency. Research potential and independent thinking are evaluated. English oral and written proficiency is also assessed.

Admission Requirements

IIT Delhi accepts scores from various examinations. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE). Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) and University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) scores are also accepted. The DST INSPIRE program is another valid score submission.

International examination scores are also considered. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).

Candidates must submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination. Other language tests may also be accepted.

Selection Process

Admission is based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
