IIT Delhi is now accepting applications for its Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .
Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) status, can apply. Applications are being accepted for the academic year 2026-27. Interested students must submit their applications through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.
The application window closes at 4 pm on March 30, 2026.
Application Requirements
Applicants must provide a statement declaring their English proficiency. They also need to nominate two referees. These referees will be contacted to provide recommendation letters. Their feedback will focus on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.
Admission to IIT Delhi’s PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These can include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.
International examination scores may also be considered. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
International students also need to submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination. Other language tests may also be considered.
Admission Process
IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their interview performance. Students with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
