The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs for international students. Applications are being accepted through the official website international.iitd.ac.in .
The application portal will close on March 30, 2026, at 4:00 PM . This applies to admissions for the academic year 2026-27.
Foreign nationals are eligible. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards.
Admission Requirements
Applicants must submit a self-declaration of English proficiency. They must also provide the names of two referees for recommendation letters.
Referees will be asked to assess a candidate’s aptitude, field-specific proficiency, research potential, independent thinking skills, and English communication abilities.
Candidates may need to submit scores from national tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.
International examination scores are also considered. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
Selection Process
Admission decisions will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will receive interview invitations.
The interview committee will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
Applicants must also present scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
