IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions Open for International Students

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply.

Admission Process

Candidates must apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website:international.iitd.ac.in. The portal closes at 4 PM on March 30, 2026. Applicants will need to provide a self-declaration of English proficiency.

Two referees must be nominated. These referees will be contacted to comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English communication skills.

Eligibility Criteria

Admission to PhD and PG programs at IIT Delhi may require scores from national-level entrance examinations. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.

International examination scores are also considered. Accepted tests include the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT). Applicants must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.

Selection

IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their performance in an interview. Students with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline. The interview assesses the candidate’s suitability for the program.

The academic year for these admissions is 2026-27 .
