IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions Open for International Students

IIT Delhi opened applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs for international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 .

Foreign nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applications are accepted for the academic year 2026-27.

Prospective students must submit a self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees. These referees will provide recommendation letters.

The application portal for international candidates closes at 4 pm on March 30, 2026 . Interested applicants can find the application form on the official IIT Delhi international admissions website.

Application Process

Referees will evaluate candidates on aptitude and field proficiency. They will also comment on research potential and English language skills.

Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), CSIR UGC NET, or DST INSPIRE. International exams like GRE and GMAT are also considered.

Admission decisions are based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant discipline.

Applicants must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
