IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions Open for International Students

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is now accepting applications for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application portal remains open until March 30, 2026, at 4 PM . Prospective students can submit their applications through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website atinternational.iitd.ac.in.

Admission Eligibility and Requirements

Eligibility extends to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must demonstrate English proficiency. This can be done through a self-declaration. Candidates also need to provide the names of two referees. These referees will submit recommendation letters.

Referees will be contacted to assess candidates. They will comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field-specific knowledge, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.

Academic and Entrance Exam Scores

Admission to PhD and PG programs may require specific test scores. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE). Scores from the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) or University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) are also considered. The DST INSPIRE program scores are also relevant.

International examination scores are accepted. These include the Graduate Records Examination (GRE). The Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) is also a valid submission.

English Proficiency Tests

International applicants must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and the Cambridge English Examination. Other equivalent language tests may also be considered.

Selection Process

IIT Delhi will base admissions on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for interviews. These interviews will be conducted by a committee. The committee will consist of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
