Indian Institute of Technology Delhi is now accepting applications from international students for its Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .
Admissions Overview
Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, can apply. Applications are open for the academic year 2026-27. Interested candidates must visit the official admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in to submit their applications. The portal will close at 4 pm on the specified deadline.
Application Requirements
Applicants must provide a self-declaration of English language proficiency. They also need to list two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field-specific skills, research potential, independent thinking, and English proficiency.
Eligibility and Selection Criteria
Admission to IIT Delhi’s PhD and PG programs may require scores from national and international standardized tests. These can include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE for PhD programs. International tests like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) may also be considered.
Furthermore, applicants must submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.
The final selection will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline.
