IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions Open for International Students

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 .

Admission Details

Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Applications are open for the academic year 2026-27. Interested candidates must submit their applications through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in .

Application Requirements

Applicants must provide a statement declaring their English proficiency. They also need to name two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.

Depending on the program, candidates may need to submit scores from national or international entrance examinations. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), DST INSPIRE, Graduate Records Examination (GRE), or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).

English language proficiency test scores from examinations like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination are also required.

Selection Process

IIT Delhi will admit students based on their performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview with a faculty committee from the relevant discipline. The interview panel assesses the candidate’s suitability for the chosen program.
