IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions Open for International Students

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The deadline for submissions is March 30, 2026 . Prospective students can apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website at international.iitd.ac.in.

Admission Details for International Students

Applications are open for the academic year 2026-27. Both PhD and PG courses are available. Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply.

Application Requirements

Applicants must submit a statement or self-declaration confirming their English language proficiency. Two referees are also required to provide recommendation letters. These referees will be asked to comment on a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills.

Academic Qualifications and Scores

Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These can include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International exams like the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) may also be considered.

Proof of English language proficiency through tests such as TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination is also necessary.

Selection Process

IIT Delhi will base admissions on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview with a faculty committee from the relevant department. The interview committee will assess the candidate’s suitability for the program.
