IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions Open for International Students

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened applications for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. Foreign nationals can apply. The application deadline is March 30, 2026, at 4 PM . Applications are for the 2026-27 academic year.

Prospective students must apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website. The portal is located atinternational.iitd.ac.in.

Eligibility extends to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Candidates must demonstrate English proficiency.

Admission Process Details

Applicants need to submit a self-declaration of English language skills. They must also provide names of two referees. These referees will provide recommendation letters.

Referees will evaluate candidates on aptitude. They will assess proficiency in the chosen field. Potential for research and independent thought is also evaluated. English speaking and writing skills will be reviewed.

IIT Delhi may require scores from national entrance exams. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), CSIR, UGC NET, or DST INSPIRE. These are for PhD and PG program eligibility.

International examination scores are also considered. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).

Admission decisions will be based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited. An interview committee of faculty members will conduct these.

Submission of English proficiency test scores is mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination. Other language tests may also be accepted.
