Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is now accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. Foreign national students can apply for admission for the 2026-2027 academic year. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m.
Admission Details for International Students
The application portal is open to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must submit a statement declaring their English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills.
Eligibility and Requirements
Candidates may need to submit scores from standardized tests. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), or University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET). The DST INSPIRE program is also an option. International examination scores like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are acceptable.
Proof of English language proficiency is mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination, or similar. Candidates will be evaluated based on their interview performance. A strong academic record is required to secure an interview with a faculty committee.
