The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .
Foreign nationals, including Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) and Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cardholders, are eligible. Applications are being accepted for the academic year 2026-27.
Application Process
Interested candidates must apply online through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in .
The application portal closes at 4:00 PM on March 30, 2026 .
Required Submissions
Applicants must submit a statement declaring their English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees. These referees will be contacted to comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.
IIT Delhi may require scores from national and international entrance examinations. These include:
- GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering)
- CSIR (Council of Scientific and Industrial Research)
- UGC NET (University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test)
- DST INSPIRE (Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research)
- GRE (Graduate Records Examination)
- GMAT (Graduate Management Aptitude Test)
Additionally, candidates must provide scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Admission Selection
Admission will be based on the candidate’s performance in an interview. Students with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline.
