The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened admissions for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs to international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Applications are being accepted for the academic year 2026-27.
Eligibility Criteria
Foreign nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must submit a self-declaration of English proficiency.
Application Requirements
Candidates need to provide the names of two referees. These referees will comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English language skills. The application portal is accessible at international.iitd.ac.in.
Academic Qualifications and Scores
Admission to PhD and PG programs may require scores from national tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International exam scores such as Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) may also be considered.
English Proficiency Tests
Applicants must demonstrate English language proficiency. Accepted test scores include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination results. Other recognized language tests may also be accepted.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will select candidates based on interview performance. Applicants with strong academic records will be invited to an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
