IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions Open for International Students

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is now accepting applications from international students for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 , at 4 PM.

Admission Details

Foreign nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applications are being accepted for the academic year 2026-27. Prospective students can submit their applications through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in .

Application Requirements

Applicants must provide a statement or self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to submit the names of two referees who will provide recommendation letters. These referees will assess candidates’ aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English language skills.

Additional requirements may include scores from national entrance examinations like the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.

International examination scores from Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) may also be considered. English language proficiency test scores from TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination are also necessary.

Selection Process

Admission to IIT Delhi’s PhD and PG programs will be based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview with a faculty committee from the relevant discipline.
