IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions Open for International Students

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened admissions for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs for international students. Applications are accepted until March 30, 2026 , for the academic year 2026-27. Foreign nationals, including Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) and Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cardholders, are eligible.

Application Process and Requirements

Interested candidates must apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in . The portal closes at 4 pm on March 30, 2026. Applicants must submit a self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to provide names of two referees for recommendation letters. These referees will comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills.

Eligibility and Admission Criteria

To be considered for admission to PhD and PG programs, candidates may need to submit scores from national entrance examinations like the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.

International examination scores are also accepted. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT). IIT Delhi will also consider scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.

Final admission will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to an interview with a faculty committee from the relevant discipline.
