IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions Open for International Students

IIT Delhi is now accepting applications for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .

Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Prospective students can apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.

Application Process and Requirements

The application portal closes on March 30, 2026, at 4:00 PM. Applicants must submit a statement detailing their English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two individuals who can submit recommendation letters.

These referees will be asked to assess the candidate’s aptitude for the chosen field, research potential, independent thinking skills, and English language proficiency, both written and oral.

Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from national-level entrance examinations such as the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or the DST INSPIRE program.

International examination scores are also considered. These include the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and the Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).

In addition, candidates must submit scores from recognized English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and the Cambridge English Examination.

Admission Selection

IIT Delhi will base admissions on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their relevant discipline.

The interview committee will evaluate candidates’ suitability for the program.
