IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions Open for International Students

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened admissions for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs to international students. Applications are being accepted until March 30, 2026 , at 4 PM.

Foreign nationals are eligible to apply for the 2026-27 academic year . This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Interested candidates must apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in .

Application Requirements

Applicants must submit a statement or self-declaration of their English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will assess candidates’ aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills, according to the institute’s notification.

IIT Delhi may require scores from standardized tests for admission. These include:

  • Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
  • Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
  • University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
  • DST INSPIRE
  • Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
  • Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)

English language proficiency must also be demonstrated through scores from tests such as TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

Admission decisions will be based on a candidate’s performance in an interview. IIT Delhi will invite candidates with strong academic records to be interviewed by a faculty committee from the relevant department.
