IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions Open for International Students

IIT Delhi is now accepting applications from international students for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .

Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, can apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal atinternational.iitd.ac.in. Applications will be accepted until 4 p.m. on March 30, 2026.

Applicants must submit a statement of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.

Admission Requirements

Eligibility for PhD and PG programs requires specific test scores. Candidates may need to submit scores from national tests such as the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or the Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (DST INSPIRE) scheme.

International examination scores are also accepted. These include the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT). Proof of English language proficiency is mandatory, with acceptable scores from tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

Final admission will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to an interview panel. This panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
