IIT Delhi is now accepting applications from international students for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Prospective students can submit their applications online through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website: international.iitd.ac.in.
Admission Details
The application portal will remain open until 4 pm on March 30, 2026. Eligibility extends to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards.
Applicants must provide a statement declaring their English proficiency. They also need to nominate two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills, according to the institute’s notification.
Academic and Entrance Requirements
For PhD and PG programs, candidates may need to submit scores from standardized tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) or University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE awards. International examination scores such as Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also accepted.
English language proficiency must be demonstrated. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination, among others.
Selection Process
Admission decisions are based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to an interview. A committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline will conduct these interviews.
