IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions Open for International Students

IIT Delhi is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026, at 4 p.m.

Admission Details

Foreign nationals, including Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) and Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cardholders, are eligible. Applications are for the 2026-27 academic year. Interested students can apply via the official IIT Delhi international admissions website: international.iitd.ac.in .

Application Requirements

Applicants must submit a statement of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees for recommendation letters. Referees will comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills. This information is stated in the official notification.

Academic and Test Scores

Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These include:

  • Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
  • Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
  • University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
  • DST INSPIRE
  • Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
  • Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)

International students may also need to submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

Admission decisions are based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant discipline. This process aims to assess candidates thoroughly.
