IIT Delhi has opened applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs to international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 . Prospective students can submit applications online at international.iitd.ac.in.
The application portal closes at 4 p.m. on March 30, 2026. This applies to admissions for the 2026-27 academic year.
Eligibility and Application Requirements
Non-Indian nationals are eligible. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must demonstrate English proficiency. They need to provide a self-declaration of their English skills.
Candidates must also name two referees. These referees will submit recommendation letters. The letters will assess a candidate’s aptitude and research potential. English proficiency in both written and oral forms will be evaluated.
Admission Process and Criteria
IIT Delhi may require scores from standardized tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), CSIR, UGC NET, and DST INSPIRE. International students may submit Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) scores.
English language proficiency test scores are also necessary. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination. Admission decisions will be based on interview performance. Faculty committees will interview shortlisted candidates.
