IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions Open for International Students

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. The application portal closes on March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m.

Admission Details

Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply. Prospective students must submit a statement of English proficiency. They also need to provide names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters.

Referees will evaluate candidates on their aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills. The IIT Delhi admissions portal for these programs is available at international.iitd.ac.in.

Eligibility and Requirements

Applicants may need to submit scores from standardized tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International examination scores like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also considered.

Candidates must also demonstrate English language proficiency through tests such as TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination. IIT Delhi will base admissions on interview performance.

Selection Process

Students with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. This interview will be conducted by a committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline. The interview committee will assess candidates’ suitability for the program.
