IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions Open for International Students

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is now accepting applications from international students for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline for applications is March 30, 2026 , at 4:00 PM IST. Prospective students can submit their applications via the official IIT Delhi international admissions website: international.iitd.ac.in .

Eligibility Criteria

Foreign nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must demonstrate English proficiency. They need to provide a self-declaration of their English language skills.

Application Requirements

The application process requires candidates to nominate two referees. These referees will be asked to provide letters of recommendation. The letters will assess the applicant’s aptitude, field-specific knowledge, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills.

Academic and Test Score Requirements

Depending on the program, candidates may need to submit scores from standardized tests. For PhD and PG programs, these can include:

  • Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
  • Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
  • University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
  • DST INSPIRE

International examination scores are also accepted, such as:

  • Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
  • Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)

English language proficiency test scores are mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and the Cambridge English Examination.

Admission Process

IIT Delhi will base admissions on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to an interview. This interview will be conducted by a committee of faculty members from the relevant department. The interview panel will evaluate the candidates’ suitability for the program.
