IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions Open for International Students

IIT Delhi is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs for the 2026-27 academic year. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m. Interested candidates can submit their applications through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website at international.iitd.ac.in.

Eligibility Requirements

The programs are open to foreign nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must provide a self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to submit the names of two referees who can provide recommendation letters.

Admission Process Details

Referees will assess candidates on their aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking skills, and English language abilities. IIT Delhi may require scores from standardized tests. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), and the DST INSPIRE program.

International test scores are also considered. These include the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT). English language proficiency tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination scores may also be required.

Selection Criteria

Final selection for both PhD and PG programs will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline. The institute will assess their overall suitability for the program.
