IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions Open for International Students

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .

Admission Details

Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply. Applications are for the academic years 2026-27. The application portal will remain open until 4 pm on the closing date.

Application Requirements

Applicants must submit a statement declaring their English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. Referees will be asked to comment on a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills.

Academic Qualifications

Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from national-level examinations. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International exam scores like GRE and GMAT may also be considered.

Candidates must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

Admission will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from the relevant discipline.
