IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions Open for International Students

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is now accepting applications from international students for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026, at 4 PM . Prospective students can submit their applications through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.

Admission Eligibility for International Students

Foreign nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must provide a statement or self-declaration of their English language proficiency. They also need to name two referees who will submit recommendation letters.

Referee Evaluation Criteria

Referees will assess candidates on their overall aptitude, proficiency in their chosen field, research potential, and independent thinking abilities. Evaluations will also cover the candidate’s proficiency in written and oral English.

Academic and Entrance Exam Requirements

While interviews are a key part of the selection process, submission of scores from certain standardized tests may be required. These can include:

  • Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
  • Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
  • University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
  • DST INSPIRE

International examination scores are also accepted:

  • Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
  • Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)

English proficiency test scores are mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination, among others.

Selection Process

IIT Delhi will admit students based on their performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee in their respective disciplines.
