IIT Delhi is now accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m. Interested candidates can submit their applications online at international.iitd.ac.in.
Eligibility Criteria
Admission is open to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must demonstrate English proficiency. They need to provide a statement of proficiency. Two referees must also be nominated to submit recommendation letters.
Referees will assess candidates’ aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.
Admission Process
IIT Delhi will base admissions on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee. Scores from standardized tests may be required for eligibility. These include GATE, CSIR, UGC NET, and DST INSPIRE for PhD and PG programs.
International standardized tests are also considered. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT). Applicants must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
The academic session for which admissions are being offered is 2026-27 .
