The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is now accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline for submissions is March 30, 2026 .
Admission Details
Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Applications are being accepted for the academic years 2026-27.
Interested candidates must apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal atinternational.iitd.ac.in. The portal closes at 4 PM on March 30, 2026.
Application Requirements
Applicants must provide a statement of English proficiency. They also need to nominate two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English language skills.
Submission of scores from standardized tests may be required. These include:
- Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
- Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
- University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
- DST INSPIRE
- Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
- Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)
Proficiency in English must also be demonstrated through scores from tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or the Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
Admission will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee in their chosen discipline.
