IIT Delhi has opened admissions for international students to its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs for the 2026-27 academic year. Applications are due by March 30, 2026 , at 4 PM.
Admission Details
Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, can apply online. The application portal is accessible at international.iitd.ac.in .
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement declaring English proficiency. They also need to provide names of two referees who can supply recommendation letters. These referees will comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills.
Eligibility Criteria
IIT Delhi may require scores from national-level entrance exams such as the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or the DST INSPIRE program. International examination scores like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) may also be accepted.
Proficiency in English language tests is mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and the Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
Admission will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline.
