IIT Delhi opened admissions for international students to its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Foreign nationals, including Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) and Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cardholders, are eligible to apply. Applications are accepted through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal atinternational.iitd.ac.in.
Admission Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement of English proficiency. They also need to provide names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. Referees will comment on a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English communication skills. The application portal closes at 4 PM on March 30, 2026.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates may need to submit scores from standardized tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International test scores like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) may also be required.
English language proficiency scores from tests such as TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination are also necessary. IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their interview performance.
Selection Process
Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline. The interview committee will assess candidates’ suitability for the PhD and PG programs.
