IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions Open for International Students

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened applications for international students seeking admission to its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs for the 2026-27 academic year. The application portal closes on March 30, 2026 , at 4 PM.

Foreign nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must submit a statement of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters.

Admission Process

Referees will evaluate candidates on their aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills. This information is detailed in the official notification.

Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may also require scores from specific standardized tests. These include:

  • Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
  • Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)

International examination scores are also accepted. These include:

Selection Criteria

IIT Delhi will base admissions on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records receive interview invitations. These interviews are conducted by faculty committees in the relevant disciplines.
