IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions Open for International Students

IIT Delhi opened admissions for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs to international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . International candidates can apply via the official website atinternational.iitd.ac.in.

Admission Eligibility

Applications are open to non-Indian nationals. This includes students holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must submit a self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to provide names of two referees for recommendation letters.

Referees will assess candidates’ aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills. The notification states these assessments are part of the evaluation.

Academic Requirements

To be considered, applicants may need to submit scores from standardized tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International exam scores like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also accepted.

Candidates must also submit scores from English proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

IIT Delhi will select candidates based on interview performance. The institute will invite students with strong academic records for interviews. These interviews will be conducted by a committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
