IIT Delhi is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs for the 2026-27 academic year. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026, at 4 p.m.
Application Details
Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Applications must be submitted through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website: international.iitd.ac.in .
Admission Requirements
Applicants must provide a statement of English proficiency. They also need to name two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills.
Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may also require scores from national tests such as GATE, CSIR, UGC NET, or DST INSPIRE. International test scores from GRE or GMAT are accepted.
All applicants must submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English examinations. A self-declaration of English proficiency is also required.
Selection Process
Admission decisions will be based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to an interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline.
