Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026, at 4 PM . Prospective students can apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website at international.iitd.ac.in.
Admission Eligibility
Foreign nationals are eligible. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must declare their English proficiency. They also need to provide names of two referees for recommendation letters.
Recommendation Letters
Referees will comment on a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills. This information is stated in the official notification.
Required Test Scores
Admission to PhD and PG programs may require scores from the following examinations:
- Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
- Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
- University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
- DST INSPIRE
- Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
- Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)
International English proficiency tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination are also required.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will select candidates based on interview performance. Applicants with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from the relevant discipline.
