IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions Open for International Students

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 . Foreign nationals, including Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) and Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cardholders, are eligible.

Applications are being accepted for the academic year 2026-27. Interested candidates must submit their applications online via the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal atinternational.iitd.ac.in.

Application Requirements

Applicants need to provide a self-declaration of English language proficiency. They must also list two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will assess the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English communication skills.

To be considered for admission, candidates may need to submit scores from recognized entrance examinations. These include:

  • Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
  • Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
  • University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
  • DST INSPIRE
  • Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
  • Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)

International students may also need to provide scores from English proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and the Cambridge English Examination.

Admission Process

IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their interview performance. Those with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline. The interview committee will evaluate candidates on their suitability for the program.
