IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions Open for International Students

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is now accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application window is open for foreign national students seeking admission for the 2026-27 academic year .

Applications must be submitted through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in . The deadline for submission is March 30, 2026, at 4 p.m.

Eligibility extends to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must demonstrate English proficiency. This can be done through a self-declaration. Applicants also need to provide names of two referees.

Referees will provide recommendations. They will comment on a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills. This information is detailed in the official notification.

Admission Process

IIT Delhi may require scores from national or international standardized tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International tests like GRE and GMAT may also be considered.

Candidates may also need to submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.

Admission decisions will be based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. The interview panel will comprise faculty members from the relevant discipline.
