The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened admissions for international students to its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. Applications are open for the academic year 2026-27.
The application portal is available online at international.iitd.ac.in. The deadline for submitting applications is March 30, 2026, at 4 p.m.
Eligibility Criteria
Foreign nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards.
Applicants must submit a statement or self-declaration of English proficiency. They must also provide the names of two referees for recommendation letters.
Referees will assess a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills.
Admission Requirements
Candidates may need to submit scores from standardized tests. These can include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.
International examination scores are also accepted. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
English language proficiency scores are required. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
Admission is based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee.
The committee will evaluate candidates for their suitability for the chosen discipline.
