IIT Delhi is now accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 .
Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) status, are eligible. Applications are for the academic year 2026-27.
Prospective students must apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website atinternational.iitd.ac.in. The application portal closes at 4 p.m. on March 30, 2026.
Admission Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement or self-declaration confirming their English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters.
The referees will comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.
Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) or University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), and DST INSPIRE.
International examination scores like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also considered.
Applicants may also need to submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will base admissions on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview with a faculty committee from the relevant discipline.
