Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline for submitting applications is March 30, 2026, at 4 p.m.
Admission Details
Foreign nationals, including Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) and Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cardholders, are eligible. Applications are for the academic years 2026-27. The application portal is accessible at international.iitd.ac.in.
Application Requirements
Applicants must provide a statement declaring English proficiency. They also need to list two referees who will submit recommendation letters. Referees will assess the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates may need to submit scores from national-level entrance exams. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), and DST INSPIRE. International exam scores like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) may also be required.
Selection Process
Admission decisions will be based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. A committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline will conduct these interviews.
English Proficiency Tests
Successful candidates must demonstrate English proficiency through standardized tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination, among others. Details are available on the official IIT Delhi website.
